This 2006 release is Marty Haugen's first liturgical recording in several years. Only You, O God generates a sense of familiarity from the first note. The general approach is simple refrains or choruses, with verses that can be sung by a soloist or cantor.
The simplicity of the melodies coupled with understated accompaniments make the songs on this recording perfect for use in all forms of worship. Haugen also uses familiar hymn tunes with new texts, evoking immediate and prayerful participation.
Particular highlights include "Come, Let Us Return To The Lord" which has been used by our team in reconciliation and healing services; and the beautiful communion processional song "Christ Our Peace" .
